PRIZE #8 -- 'SHELTER MOM'S PACKAGE' BY SUE PYRON!

These original poems by Sue Pyron come from her very deep heart and have stirred tears from ferret lovers all over the world. Sue, who operates WeezleWings Ferret Sanctuary in Arkansas, has donated a framed set of two of her most popular poems, framed in wood and printed on high-quality 8.5" x 11" parchment paper. One poem, "Rescued," is about a little girl who finds an abandoned ferret and ends up giving him her heart. The other poem, "A Shelter Mom's Prayer," Sue has also donated a lovely matching ceramic coffee mug, printed with her "Shelter Mom's" poem. The mug's unique shape will make you smile!

CASEY'S NEW LIFE

Casey came to the Last Chance Ferret Rescue in Southampton, PA from a local SPCA, says shelter op Diane Bodofsky. Casey was an abuse case. When we got her she was skinny, afraid of everything and had a horrible coat. It took a few weeks of Totally Ferret donated by SOS, but she turned into a fat, sweet, loving ferret. You can see her with her new “mommy” Melissa. I have known Melissa’s mother for many years and know Casey will be spoiled rotten. As you can see from the picture, Casey and Melissa love each other. It is because of the generous donations from SOS that we are able to continue to find loving homes for as many ferrets as possible. Thank you SOS from all the ferrets you help. Little Casey finally knows what it’s like to be happy. SOS helps shelters to continue their fight on the front lines to save ferrets in need all over the U.S. And you help, too, by purchasing raffle tickets. Buy a ticket, save a life. Who'd care if Geoffrey had died of a blockage? Not the owner who dumped him! But the wonderful folks at the Greater Chicago Ferret Association knew that Geoffrey’s life was worth plenty and the world would be a lesser place without this sweet, goofy 2.5-year-old boy. Geoffrey was lethargic, had bloody stools and was in obvious pain. GCFA rushed him to the vet where X-rays revealed a problem. After a 4-hour surgery the vet informed them that he had cork in his stomach and intestines and at one point, there was a perforation where the cork leaked into his abdomen. That was at 10 o'clock at night. At 8 a.m. the next morning, the vet called to say that Geoffrey now had a urinary blockage, due to early onset adrenal disease. After a loading dose of Lupron and one day of having a urinary catheter, he was acting like nothing had ever happened. A month later, he is acting like a normal ferret, dooking up a storm, and eating like a pig. He will have to be on Lupron for life, but, as Ron Crivello of GCFA says, “Without funding from SOS, we would not have been able to afford his extensive veterinary care.” Geoffrey is proof that YOU can help save the life of a ferret by participating in the SOS raffle! The operators of ferret shelters give their time and money every day, often sacrificing their own needs to provide food, shelter, vet care and love to thousands (really...thousands) of ferrets who have been lost, abused or often simply dumped by people who can't be bothered to follow through on their commitment to their ferret. Support Our Shelters (S.O.S.) aids many needy ferret shelters each year. We have been in operation since September 1997 and became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in January 2001.
